OMC Wound Care Recognized with National Award for Clinical Excellence
Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) Wound Care was awarded the Center of Distinction Award, by Healogics, the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services.
OMC Wound Care achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate of higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. There were 621 centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award and 423 achieved the honor.
“We are extremely honored to receive this award of excellence for the third time. OMC Wound Care continues to provide exceptional, compassionate care,” said Tom Keller, President and CEO of Ozarks Medical Center. “With state-of-the-art treatments and patient education available, people with non-healing and chronic wounds have a place to turn.”
About OMC Wound Care
OMC Wound Care, a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers®, provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. Associated with diabetes, inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins, and immobility, non-healing wounds lead to a lower quality of life and may even lead to amputations.
Leading-edge treatments at OMC Wound Care include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, and growth factor therapies. The Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
Wound care is provided by a panel of physicians and staff that includes surgeons specially trained for treating hard to heal wounds. The panel includes medical director Dr. Sonia Gerlick, Dr. Magdy Giurgius, Dr. Rex Goodman, Dr. Antony Joseph, and Dr. William McGee.
Headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., Healogics is the nation’s wound healing expert. Last year over 330,000 patients received advanced wound care through a nationwide network of nearly 700 Wound Care Centers®. The Healogics team is made up of almost 3,000 employees, 4,000 affiliated physicians, and a Healogics Specialty Physician practice group of nearly 300.
As the industry leader, Healogics has the largest repository of chronic wound-specific patient data in the country. The Healogics Wound Science Initiative, an effort launched in 2017 to provide peer-reviewed research, recognizes the value and relevance of data and advanced analytics to drive continuous, collaborative learning towards a better understanding of how to efficiently utilize healthcare resources for patients with wounds.
