Ozarks Healthcare Therapies gives Gift of Mobility to Pediatric Patient through Foundation Fund

Ozarks Healthcare Therapies was recently able to gift a pediatric patient, Jessi Minnich of Winona, a Hoyt Lift System and shower chair thanks to funding through the Ozarks Healthcare Foundation.

Minnich was diagnosed with arthrogryposis as a baby. Now eight years old, she has very little mobility in her arms and legs. Arthrogryposis is not entirely understood and can lead to abnormal nerve, muscle, and connective tissue development. Therapy can improve muscle strength and joints’ range of motion. Minnich has been receiving therapy at Ozarks Healthcare Therapies since before turning one year old.

Ozarks Healthcare Therapies gifted Minnich and her father, David, a Hoyt Lift System and shower chair to help with her mobility at home. The Hoyt Lift System comes with a detachable sling to help raise and lower Minnich into a special-designed pediatric shower chair. The chair can also be used as a wheelchair around the home.

“Being able to work with our Foundation to provide meaningful gifts like this one to Jessi and her family is a special experience,” Sarah James, Director of Ozarks Healthcare Therapies, said. “We are here to help our patients live full and happy lives, no matter what health condition or challenge they may be facing. We are honored to be able to help Jessi and her family with this lift system and chair.”

Along with raising funds for new medical technology and equipment, renovation and new facilities, community wellness, prevention, and other out-of-hospital programs, the Ozarks Healthcare Foundation has special fund established to assist in purchasing home medical equipment and helping cover the costs of certain medical needs for pediatric patients receiving care through Ozarks Healthcare Therapies.

Ozarks Healthcare is a system of care encompassing primary care and specialty clinics, along with complete rehabilitation, behavioral healthcare, and home health services. While the 114-bed acute care hospital cares for more than 5,400 admissions, the entire health system has more than 364,000 patient visits annually in South Central Missouri and Northern Arkansas.
