Dr. Kamel Gharaibeh joins Ozarks Healthcare, bringing Expertise in Interventional Pulmonology and Critical Care

Ozarks Healthcare is pleased to welcome Kamel A. Gharaibeh, MD, Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), a highly accomplished interventional pulmonary and critical care physician, to its medical team. Gharaibeh brings a wealth of experience and training in internal medicine, nephrology, critical care, general pulmonary, and interventional pulmonology.

Gharaibeh completed a prestigious fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology and Thoracic Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He has also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and has held attending roles at multiple academic and community hospitals.

With diverse clinical experience, Gharaibeh has practiced medicine in nationally recognized institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, University of Kentucky, and Carle Foundation Hospital. His extensive training includes fellowships in nephrology (Mayo Clinic), critical care medicine and pulmonary (University of Maryland), and interventional pulmonary (University of Pennsylvania).

As part of his practice at Ozarks Healthcare, Gharaibeh will oversee the use of Intuitive Surgical’s Ion Endoluminal Robotic Bronchoscopy Platform, a cutting-edge, robotic-assisted technology. The Ion system enables precise access to small and hard-to-reach lung nodules for early and minimally invasive diagnosis. This advanced tool enhances the care of patients with lung abnormalities, improves the ability to detect lung cancer in its earliest stages, and ultimately supports better patient outcomes. Gharaibeh will also be developing a comprehensive interventional pulmonology program, including bronchoscopic lung volume reduction for advanced emphysema/COPD, advanced pleural interventions for complex pleural diseases, and therapeutic bronchoscopy utilizing laser therapy, cryotherapy, endobronchial stenting, and other specialized procedures.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Gharaibeh join our team at Ozarks Healthcare,” Jacob Petrus, Vice President of Physician Services and Operations at Ozarks Healthcare, said. “His unique combination of skills and dedication to advancing pulmonary care in the Ozarks will be a tremendous asset to our patients and community.”

Gharaibeh has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career, including the Hellems Award for Resident of the Year at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Outstanding Clinical Fellow of the year at the Mayo Clinic, and the Fellow Teacher of the Year Award at the University of Maryland. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology, and holds multiple board certifications and state medical licenses.

At Ozarks Healthcare Pulmonology, Gharaibeh will provide comprehensive care for patients with lung diseases and critical illnesses, including advanced interventional procedures designed to diagnose and treat complex pulmonary conditions.
