Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the

COVID-19 Vaccination

If I've received the first dose, do I really need to get the second?

One dose of the COVID-19 vaccine can reduce the average person’s risk of getting the virus by about 50 percent. Clinical research shows that the 90 to 95 percent protection range against the virus won't be reached until a week or more after the second vaccine. It’s important to take advantage of the vaccine by receiving both doses within the suggested time period for the best potential immunity against COVID-19.

If I received Moderna (or Pfizer) for the first vaccination, do I need to get the same brand for the second?

Yes, it is important to receive the same brand of vaccine for both doses. Clinical data exists to demonstrate the effectiveness of two Moderna and two Pfizer doses, but not for doses from different manufacturers. Although they're both messenger RNA vaccinations, the actual antigen is a little bit different from one brand to the other.

Can I get the vaccine through Ozarks Healthcare if I do not live in Missouri?

Any person, regardless of residency, may be vaccinated in Missouri provided that he or she meets the requirements necessary to comply with the particular Emergency Use Authorization of the COVID-19 vaccine being administered. A vaccinator shall determine that the person being vaccinated meets the requirements of the particular Emergency Use Authorization.

Non-Missouri residents who wish to sign up to receive their initial dose of the vaccine should call the Navigator Hotline at 877-435-8411.

I've lost my Vaccination Card, how can I show that I have received it?

Clinicians at the site of your vaccination will be able to access state records confirming an individual's vaccination history.

Is the Johnson & Johnson vaccine available?

Yes. As of April 25, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and CDC recommend vaccination with the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine resume among people 18 years and older. However, women younger than 50 years old especially should be aware of the rare but increased risk of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). TTS is a serious condition that involves blood clots with low platelets. There are other COVID-19 vaccine options available for which this risk has not been seen.
